Bazz voltages odd??

Hi,
Looking for a Bazz Fuss expert to tell me if my voltages are wayyyy off.  I built the 2-transistor 'darlington' type.  I used a 10K collector resistor, and 2N4124 transistors I had kicking around, similar to 2N3906.
Here we go:
Batt = 9.54v
Q1:
E   .67
B  1.20
C  1.40

Q2:
E   0
B  .67
C  1.40

What troubles me is the only .73V difference from collector to base on Q2; Q1 is lower than that.  I know this is how the ckt works, running the Q's out of headroom to clip.  But I have some gating going on as my note dies away, and I'd like to minimize that without killing the distortion.  Otherwise I love this thing, gobs of drive!  Would throwing a 10K trimmer in at the collector be advisable?  A 1M resistor in parallel with the clipping diode (1n914) got rid of gating but tamed it too much.

Thanks!

The Bazz is in its nature a gatey-sounding circuit. Throw in a 22k trim to have a little room to play around.

[edit] yeah the voltages tell you to go lower on the resistance but it never hurts to have some of that extra "gateyness" at a turn of a trimpot.

Thanks, Jim...I kinda thought so...the gating is great for Jimi ;o)
