Hi, i´ve searched about this, but i didn´t fiish to get it ;D.
I built the dynacomp project from the RG site. What should i do with 2k trimm. I mean, when i use only the compressor in the chain, and i strum the guitar, after a while the sound goes distorted and down. What IS the component that the 2k trimpot is biasing? What voltage should i look for???

Here are my IC Volts:

1:0
2:3.58
3:3.58
4:0
5:0.58
6:1.66
7:8.81
8:0

Thanks

rasco,
that's not a bias pot.  what you want to do is dime the sustain and level pot, and then slowly turn the trimpot while strumming the guitar until you hear the noisiest point.... then that's it!  you'll hear two distinct points where it sounds really gated, and then normally the sweet spot will be right in between those points.  does that make sense?

what you mean for "dime". i have to stop adjusting the trimpot when i hear waht?

Thanks for your reply

When adjusting the trimmer with the "dimed" method, one should not strum the guitar.
Just turn both control pots to maximum, and turn the 2K trimmer and leave it at the setting that is the noisiest which will be real close to the middle.

thanks for the better explanation mark :)  by dimed, i mean to "turn them up to 12!!"

no, really i mean to turn them all the way up

What do you mean for "noisest" point??? I listen a lot of interference when im reducing the ohms. is this correct??

I think they mean most hisssing sound.

Frankly, just setting it in the middle and leaving it there is fine.

The control is actually a balance control to keep the gain-changing voltage from passing through the chip so much.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
