I just finished building the condor cab sim from runoffgroove.

I really like the frequency response and overall sound of the circuit, but I feel that there should be a lot more volume available.  Am I correct in assuming that this device could replace a preamp, or do I still need to use a preamp after the cab sim to boost the level?  IF I end up debugging it because of said volume question, what connections should I check in an IC-based circuit?  All 8 pins of each of the dual op-amps?

I am pretty sure that the only thing in this circuit that actually amplifies the signal is the input JFET. The IC's are only used to shape the frequence response. I love this circuit, but it really isn't meant to be a preamp I think. I just built a second one of these as  a gift and added two more JFET gain stages to make it have more preamp-like capabilities. The first one that I built (un-modded version) sounds great but doesn't do much amplifying.
