pt80 hissing too much

HI. i think this is a really good project, however, i'm getting a lot of noise from the wet side of the pedal. If i turn down the delay level pot, noise is gone. It's hiss, mostly. i've used ggg layout. the only mod was increasing the 22k resistor to two series 18k, with a .047cap to a 100k pot to ground, that might be called, tape sat. All the way open, it's regular clean delay, with pot all the way down, it gets dirty, and darker, as when the tape of a tape delay gets dirty. Like it that way very much...a lot more analog sounding. But the hiss is so high i don't think i can use the pedal for gigging. Any clues??
