I am looking at building either the BYOC script phaser or the GGG P100 kit, and I was wondering if anyone had any input on the differences between the two.  Is one superior to the other or are they just different? Does the depth knob on the BYOC make it comparable to the P100?  Any opinions would be welcome.  Thanks.

Fairly different beasts in a few ways:

1) P100 uses LDRs which are quieter and less susceptible to distortion and headroom limitations.

2) P100 has 10 stages of phase shift (4 fixed, 6 swept), and P90 has 4.  More intense phasing effect.

3) Different LFO structure, and likely a different sort of sweep feel.

4) Variable width and regen in the P100.

Thanks!

I was leaning toward the P100 and that sort of seals it for me.  In the end I'll probably build both of them anyway, but the P100 sounds a little more versatile, so that's probably best for now.

You could use a DPDT switch to simultaniously tap the 4th swept stage and reroute the feedback from there, if you wanted to recreate the more guitar-traditional 4 stage (P90) phaser sound out of your more sophisticated phase 100.

I haven't heard the P90, but my cousin has a 70s P100 he got for $35 at a pawn shop that sounds great.  Because of the switchable phase stages I would imagine it will do whatever you want except biphase.
