pretty much, what tool can I use to cut speakers in cabinets?

The simplest tool to use is a Jigsaw.
A more complex tool is a router with a hole template.

The Jig saw will work fine you are going to use grill cloth to cover the hole.
If you need a nice clean hole the router and template is best.

I used only a jigsaw and a drill to make my latest DIY speaker cabinet a couple of weeks ago.

I used a drill to start the router.
Just inside where the router hole line is.
I used a zenith console plate with beveled edges [nice cause it rides right over and catches], three little holes and the router has the plate mounted on it, the fourth hole is made exactly...er...figured as 1/2 the hole width...taking into account that you want to measure from the outside of the cutting blade.
Straight cutter bit [3/8'' IIRC], with a first, shallow pass, then the final cut [if the blade cutter is less deep than the wood] through.
Then I used a roundover bit w/bearing on the end.
Perfect hole [just a teeny 'fudge' where entry/exit was made...].
I never had as good results with a jigsaw.
