i guess i just don't know how to use a breadboard

i definitely don't have this correct.  i just switched the resistors to connect to ground, the emmiter to -9v and popped in some PNP ac128's.  no matter what one i put in and what position the toggle is in, i just get a reading of .03.

i think this is someone telling me that i wasn't meant for germaniums

Look @ R.G.'s diagram again. For PNP's the emitter goes to+ 9Volts. :icon_wink:
