Here's a unique sounding booster/light overdrive that has really captured MY attention......
Peppermill-ish but better possibly!
Check it out!

Aw, you're not going to make us try to make sense of that without a schem, are you?   :icon_sad:

Gotta agree with Ben. I can look at a schem and have some gut sense of how its going to sound, but it took me 30 years to get that far.  It's gonna take another 10 at least to be able to look at a parts layout and have that same intuition.  Have pity on an old guy.  I don't know if I have that much time left!  :icon_lol:

I have the schem at home but, you'll have to wait until I get there for me to post it!
It did come from one of the Japanese web-sites that I think Mark H posted about recently.  :icon_biggrin:

why do you guys give numbers to "lugs" instead of calling them: "CW" or: "CCW", or: "wiper"?
do you look at their bax, or frontz?

Nice Job!
This Schem John drew is correct......you guys still want the original?
The original uses a .1 for C3.
Don't know why I changed it but.....I did!
Sounds GREAT though!

As far as I know, it's 1, 2, 3  left to right in frontz, as with the shaft pointing atcha :)

Yes Sir.

Here's a Bumpity Bump for Mr. Hammer!  :)

Thanks, John! 'Course, now that I complained about not being able to make sense without a schem, I can't make sense with one. Can someone explain what is going on between Q2 & Q3 in short sentences, using easy words my little brain can manage? :) Is Q3 just a buffer? What is up with the biasing?

I'm not sure myself......
I'm thinking it's use is to clip the signal.
Maybe a Germ would be more "flavorful" in Q3.

Anyone have an idea or want to chime in on this?

spudulike

Im probly wrong here, but looks like Q3 is running common-collector  - the normal bias resistor between base and collector is actually the D-S of the jfet. So the jfet is dynamically setting the bias point of Q3 ?

Bumpity ...

Don't know that it was possible but, I think the Board is stumped!  :-\
