I recently dismantled a 60's Bogen all transistor radio and there were some of these... I think the green/yellow glassed diode is a Ge,are the black ones diodes? and do capacitors exist in extra small size...the small silver seems like a cap, sais 4.7M 20v, C1 602.
Sorry if its an obvious question, im still discovering all the wonders, especially the old stuff!
thanks for the replies.

Yes, that looks to be an electrolytic and the black things look like Silicon diodes & last but not least, the one with the green stripe looks to be Ger. but it may be Sil. Measure it to be sure.

The black ones look an awful lot like the clipping diodes in an old Sekova Frizzy Fuzz. 8)

Oooo! What's that?!?

Meanderthal

It was a red muff fuzz thingy that plugged right into the guitar jack... no circuit board, just hung in the air. Mine fell apart many moons ago... years later I built an electra distortion and stuffed it in the... uhh... enclosure. I saved the clippers, the trannys were rotten, and the caps were crap...

Wish I'da drawn up a schematic before I ripped it apart though, it sounded pretty cool! But I think it was a clone of an EH transistor muff... with weird diodes like that...

Ha well thanks for the info, are all clipping diodes alike?, I would try the black ones on a breadboard. If anyone has suggestions for a build to test the clipping diodes....
thanks,
I just finished a dallas rangemaster and I really like it, it was refreshing after debugging a neovibe and highway89 that stubbornly wont cooperate.!...
