How to test a wah inductor?

Simple question- what is the best way to test an inductor, prefereably in situ in the wah?

I have acquired an old Boss PW-1 and initial probing doesn't point to anything obvious. Nevertheless, I don't know, and haven't seen anything, and did search, for help on how to test an inductor.

Can someone share their knowledge please? Thank you.

youll need a meter than can measure inductance and the resistance should be between 0 and 500 ohms...

Before you go off chasing rabbits, you might want to read the Guitar Effects Debugging Page at GEO, http://www.geofex.com.

There is some really pertinent advice in there about getting an old effect running again.

In this case I would
1. replace any component that looked like it had been abused or leaked
2. replace all the electrolytics
3. Resolder all of the solder joints with a touch of fresh solder.
Once that bit of shotgunning is done, it would make sense to start poking around inside for busted components. But probably not before.

First you did not post what is wrong.

alway check the jacks and that the unit has power at the PCB with a battery and input jack plugged in.  the external  power supply jack and input jack might be a place to check if no power

check the things R.G. posted.

I should have mentioned the question was more that as I was going through, I realised I didn't know how to test the inductor, so how do I do it? Sorry about any confusion there.

These cases have room for a couple of rotary switches at the toe end, so when I saw it I thought "GGG Modable Wah or Phozer, or maybe even both...". Curiosity got the better of me when I got it home, though.  ;D  I don't hold much hope for it, as two of the PCBs (there are three inside these) are pretty warped, so the likelyhood of microfracture is... And sonically it's doing a fair impersonation of a dodo.

But I'll certainly take on everyone's advice as I go through!

B.O.M.- Theres' two boards at the toe end, and one in the middle for the... I can't remember what you call it... Proximity for pedal position-thingymajig. It doesn't use a pot, although there is provision for one. I'll take some photos of the whole layout as well for you and PM when available so we can organise sending.
