Hello everybody, I'm new to the world of making pedals and was curious about building part of the digi whammy pedal. I recently fried my pedal (I think) by plugging the wrong power supply into it (I later read in here that it requires AC). I never really used the pedal all that much except for one effect. The setting where the original signal is outputted with one octave higher added...I'm in love with this setting. Cutting to the chase:

I was wondering if anyone knew how (or if it's even possible for that matter) to make a small box with nothing more than this effect. I love the imperfections of the tracking (slight delays, warbbly pitch). It would be nice also because it wouldn't hog up valuable pedal board real estate. Any thoughts? or am I just dreaming...

Thanks

ian

The Whammy is digital, so it would be quiet hard to clone it ;)

1 Octave up is done by some Fuzz-Pedals like the Tycobrahe Octavia / ... but that won't be the same sound because it sounds very dirty and fuzzy. Great effect, but I think, not what you're looking for.
You could try a Boss Pitchshifter like the PS-5 oder -3 or -2, imo they sound great, are (used) not that expensive and a lot smaller than the Digitech Whammy because the swell pedal is not included but may be added to the expression-pedal jack. Just my 2 Cent ... :)

The digi may well be repairable.
I havn't been inside one, but I'm sure the digital part will be powered via a regulator, which may have saved it while some other part burnt out.

if you email or call digitech, they will issue you a repair tag number or something like that. then you send the pedal, they have a flat fee to fix their peds. i did this with my digidelay ( great f-in delay BTW ), I would rather have them fix it then dig around in there myself!
same problem, someone plugged in a wrong power supply when I loaned it out!
my life is a tribute to the the great men and women who held this country together when the world was in trouble. my debt cannot be repaid, but i will do my best.
