Hey Guys, here is a little picture to help you pass the day! I just got these and I will be spending a couple of hours doing the R.G tranny test. Wish me luck!...I hope I dont have too much leakage. If they are good, I will be in Big Muff heaven!

I would love to have your opinions on what other builds I could use these, I have already done a FuzzFace,Dallas Rangemaster, and Big Muff. Are any modulation effects using Ge PNP's? or is it better to just use them for fat distortion?

Cheers

ha, for a second of seeing the title of this, i though it was photos of the insides of pnp's

Well as much as some of you might want to see the insides, that is not going to happen...Im keeping that for my eyes only! LOL :icon_mrgreen:
I promise that if any of these are blown or not good, ill centerfold one for you...but then again, I guess you would like to see the better ones!

Have a great day!

The harmonic perculator uses a PNP Ge...

Hey Mattpocket, I checked the layout gallery and found the Percolator, are there any audio clips that I could listen to?
thanks

Oh yes my friend, oh yes!

Go to gearwire.com and find the steve albini video where he shows you the HP-1 and compares it to a couple of boutique pedals...

Theres a few perculator clone videos on there too...

Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!

momo

Hey Matt, thanks for the link, I did not know this site...ill be spending a bit of time on that!

The Percolator is on my list!
thanks Darron, ill check for the creampie....if im lucky with the lot of Ge's, I will build that and more too!

Ok, they are not pnp, and sorry, the only chance I have to upload these pics is by my msn space, wich doesn't allow hi-res (not even good-res :icon_redface:)....
anyway... here you have some IN-sights of some components. shoud I reveal what they are?

A bit of zoom-in...

And THE ONE... it doesn't look so cool from inside...

the bets are on...

Wow!, this always amazes me how a group of techs brainstorming come up with these functioning marvels..I cant wait till the nano technology becomes mainstream!, then we will all have a huge pedal board inside the guitar :icon_eek:
I guess we will all have to invest in a electron microscope and take a couple of valiums before populating the boards/electrons...LOL :icon_mrgreen:

Hey momo,

Do you have a schemo or layout for your Ge big muff? I imagine it's just a matter of rebiasing, but I thought I'd ask. Do you like it better than Si version? I have a mountain of Russian Ge trannies left... Mostly lowish hfe, though...

momo

Ah man, sorry about that...Im still a newb at this and have been in a populating whirlwind for the past month and so you made me realize that my Big Muff is a npn silicon one!
So I will have to check in the Gallery to see if I can find the Ge version, but ya, if there is no info on rebiasing then im stumped for now...

I alway s double check my 1% resistors with a Scanning Electron Microscope before populating any board... ;D ;D

The pictures are (from top to bottom): ceramic, film and tantalum caps

Well then, you have no excuse for lame tone..!.because you have no other options to modify than your fingers! :icon_wink:

I just tried to access the creampie 2 layout and it sais I dont have authorization, I tried my forum name and paswrd but that did not work, so its probably because im not familiar with the way things work here... :icon_redface:

Barcode80

it's because the creampie layouts and schems have been licensed and therefore removed.

momo

Ok thanks, well thats great to whoever it belongs, I guess we all wish to come up with something new and legit that we could commercialize. It wont be for a couple of years as far as im concerned... :icon_rolleyes:

You'll need high gain Ge, over 200. If not the base to gnd resistor, usually 82k-100k, must be lowereda lot shunting signal to gnd and reducing final gain. Maybe reducing the inter-stage resistors can help.

Download this software:

or use the online calculator,

mac@mac-pc:~$ sudo apt install ECC83 EL84

momo

Thanks Mac for that, it does help alot to know what resistance to use, now lets say I would like to tweek biases with a trimpot instead of fixed resistance, could you recommend a certain value that would be within the window of the voltages needed to bias?
