Mounting Stripboards in boxes.

I am using this method from now on. I think its pretty nifty. Could be used for PCBs too I suppose, but once your at that stage I suppose you've got something MUCH more professional lined up already :). But this is really good for space saving on strip:

depending where its going I get 2 or 4 of those plastic thumb tacks you get for noticeboards. haha! Nip the end off the tack with pliers, stick em thru spare holes near the corners. Put a blob of solder on the end of the tack and quick set epoxy the bugger on to pre roughed-up spots in the box. If its to be resting on pots or something, I get some sort of blister pack type clear plastic and put just 2 pins thru it then thru the board and mount around the pots. The plastic shaft can also be clipped down somewhat if height is an issue, but go too far and the pin sticks out the bottom and grounds. This makes a fairly solid mounting, and has the bonus that removing for mods etc is simple by sucking up the solder blobs and applying firm but even pressure to pull it off the pins.

I did this because it seems more straightforward than standoffs, and I saw a box of a million tacks (roughly) for a quid, whereas Maplin want twice that much for about 6 standoffs or something. hahaha whatta cheapskate.  :icon_mrgreen:

That is a cool little trick. I've always taken the soft part of velcro, cut it to size, then held the stripboard in place by wires.

Could you post a picture?

damn I was hoping no-one would ask that. Its a bit hard to do when its in place especially with my gash camera. Next one I do, I will photo the progress. :)
