I took a month long course with Sergei De Jonge back in 2001 and built this large body classical guitar from raw materials. It was the most work I had ever done, even for a long time after. Up at 6:30 am, sometimes in the shop until 1:00 am. It took about 6 hours to bend the first side and half that time for the next.
Bearclaw Spruce top which took almost a whole day to join, Rosewood back and sides, Ebony fretboard which was pretty hard to plane for a skinny guy in his early twenties, Mahogany neck which another class member had an allergic reaction to when cutting. The rosette is macassar ebony with layers of maple, rosewood, padauk and ebony. The top is finished with a french polish and the rest with nitro. Spraying nitro a few days in a row is sickening.
Yes, a string broke.

Wow. Plant a tree... write a book... build a guitar...
Beautiful piece of work.
Don't tell me it plays like shit, even if it's true, I don't want to know.

davent

Fantastic job on the classical! (and very nice  wood.)  Can totally relate to the trials and tribulations...
Now when's the next one coming down the pipeline?

Thanks guys. It sounds amazing. It has that sweet midrange and volume I was hoping for.
@Davent, I would like to build more guitars in the future but getting the tool together will take me a while. It's a fun hobby, time consuming but worthwhile.

Love the gold top, that's the LP I'd have if getting another guitar wouldn't result in getting thrown out of the house!

New body (Warmoth Black Korina) for a Fender neck I've been playing on for over 20 years now. I'm in love with it already!

rousejeremy

Those reddish stripes in the grain almost make the body look laminated. Beautiful.

Jeremy Beautiful classical! And the strats too love em!

Brian that custom strat is great I was going to get one of those wood pickgaurds for mine too! I have a '63 RI opac blonde with a custom cocobolo neck .

Is that a varitone on the strat with the chickenhead knob ?

Normally I wouldn't see the point of having more than one of the "same" guitar.  But when you see family shots like these Strats and LPs, logic just goes out the window...  Sweet little collections, both.
