Finished this mustang..

Not as fancy as many of yours, not having access or talent in woodworking all that much..

Part warmoth, part stuff found elsewhere. Body was entirely finished by hand. A couple small blemishes and bits where I ate through the lacquer a bit, but I'm happy how it looks! Pickups are seymour duncan pearly gates, have the mini switches setup to toggle between parallel, series and single coil, and did some hack drill-press routing to add the pickup selector toggle!

2003 LP Studio limited edition flip flop blue teal (the colour changes depending on the viewing angle); 2011 SG standard ebony.

And my non-diy boss pedalboard which hardly ever sees any use at all these days!

Life is not fair. I hate you.

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.

There are other things I'd be interested in, but either my studio partner has them (and I can therefore use them) or I can't afford a good one.  Most of these I got silly deals on (the EB3 cost me US$300, but came to me stripped naked with all the remaining hardware in a plastic bag; no bridge).  The rest  were pre-children purchases.

Yeah, sorry.  Though I must say it took me years to accumulate these, and I had to work for it.  I pretty much spent a few years trawling ebay daily and living on a Gibson Bass fan board. Took a bunch of elbow grease to fix most of them up.  Deals abound; you just gotta be really patient.  I haven't bought a new axe in years (can't justify it having all these already... though I could do with something single coily ... and a 12er ... and not enough spare change for anything I'd really want).

If you really wanna hate somebody - good thing there's no pic of my studio partner's collection (luckily I get to help him curate it now - so glad I convinced him to sell the PRS and get a Ric).

The 82 Gibson Victory Standard looks interesting.
I googled it and have a question if I understand how the pickups are built.
Is the pickup like a P bass having two coils, each coil for two strings?

Actually yes.  But the coils are butt-ended in a straight line vs staggered/offset like a P (they just angled the pup).

It sounds very much like a P, but better in my opinion (growlier and more balls).  Much heavier though (all maple).  Wonderful neck (shallow but widish), brass nut (open notes sound amazing), and great upper fret access which I have used well. No neck dive but the 4 inline tuners + angled headstock (like a TBird) makes these hard to find a case for.

The best single point resource for info on the Victory series (or any Gibson bass) is FlyGuitars: http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/Victory.php

Don't pay a penny more than US$800 for one in good condition (maybe if dead mint and rare finish - like black with matching neck; most were red or silvergreen like mine, with natural neck) but you should be able to score one cheaper than that easy.  There's plenty of them around on ebay etc (see the bass player in Marty McFly's band when they're trying out for the talent show in the beginning of Back To The Future).

My 2003 LP Studio flip-flop blue teal. They only made this in the 2002/3 model years if I recall correctly. The paint job was a collaboration with BASF. It changes colour depending on the viewing angle; blue teal to a more green kind of colour.

... And this is a nice instrument : I like that Green Translucent color  8)

Green is also the color that I chose for my Danelectro DC59 Custom :

This is an evocation, a one-of-a-kind lefty modern tribute to the famous Danelectro DC59 guitar... Not a real Dano product, indeed !

I am responsible for the idea, design and electronics, and the construction is the work of a good friend skillfull-amateur-luthier.

Specs :

- Solid body is made from maple centre and alder wings.
- Color is automotive paint and coating "Alfa-Romeo Minerva Verde".
- Neck is glued one-piece maple, with rosewood fingerboard, double-action truss rod, jumbo-medium frets, TUSQ XL PQL-6060-L0 antifriction nut.
- Tremolo is Duesenberg-made "Super Tremola" model.
- Roller bridge is from TonePros.
- tuners are Grover Midsize.
- 3 pickups : 2x Gretsch HS FilterTrons + 1x Artec "Lipstick" AlNiCo.
- 5-position selector for Strat-style operation.
- Additional switch for Middle to Neck+Bridge shift in postion 3 of the selector.
- 1 master volume with treble bleeder.
- 1 master tone.
- Scale = 24"3/4

This guitar proves to be a successful design in terms of ergonomy - at least for me :

- the guitar is rock-stable, doesn't have any erratic movements when you play or release your hands from the instrument.
- the mass balance between body and neck is perfect.
- the weight is not premium but stays reasonable at 3.9kg.
- the instrument is comfortable and easy to play, everything is on hand.

The sound is a cutting through the mix combination between a Gretsch, a Strat and a Danelectro...

A very pleasing surprise !

A+!

Thanks Dave !

Yes, my pal Fred and I were surprised by the qualities of this guitar.

Unlike the original Danelectro guitars, we opted for a glued neck :
