This is a five string tele bass I made for a friend, the motivation was a bunch of spare parts left over from upgrades....hence the jazz bass pickups.  Has a unique sound due to the slightly shifted neck pickup...

Yeah, some of the earliest basses from Fender had a tele headstock.....with a P bass body.  I just copied the pickguard

The pickguard was cut using a CNC machine, with a 1/8" bit.  I found the pdf online somewhere and modified it for the five string neck width, the toughest part was fitting the neck pocket.

The pdf was modified to a dxf using inkscape (sometimes it works, sometimes not, depends on the version of the pdf), I can send you the files if you want.  Although.......I would be willing to bet it would not be a good fit to any stock fender product as I scaled it back a few mm, mainly because the body blank I had was a bit undersized (there is a difference in size between the American standard and some of the other P bass body sizes).

My pride and joy Noyce Eagle (Australian make)  This guitar was a competition prize back in 1985.  It is the first Noyce Eagle ever made and it's design and build was documented in a magazine called 'Sonics' through late 1984 to early 1985.  It has a few scars but is in decent condition.  I also own a Travis Bean Artist and a Chinese built Hagstrom Viking.

Details:
Huon Pine body (Tasmanian wood), Rosewood/Maple/Rosewood neck, Rosewood fretboard, 640mm scale with 22 frets and EMG S active pickups.

Yes, i really like the low luster finish too, very stealth looking, i'm not into bright and shiny.

On the neck is light colour of the center piece of rosewood just way the light is playing on it or is there another piece of wood in there?

Yup, it's a reflection.  I've always liked the matt black look.  After 30 odd years it's not as black or as matt as it used to be though.

Nashville Strat kit from BYOguitars:

All are standard parts with the kit except for upgrading the body from 3 pieces to 2 pieces. It's swamp ash and relatively blemish free. It's finished with about 6 coats of Tru-oil - Very easy to work with. The next cavity was a little too wide but veneer edging took care of that.
The neck that came with the kit is from Mighty Mite. It needed some fret edge filing but otherwise was in good shape straight from the box.
The pickups are BYO's own and sound great.
Hardware is as I expected - not top grade but ok.
I redid the control plate wiring - it was horrific.
Overall it's a good kit and was a good introduction to guitar building.
