These are all DIY builds.  Nothing compared to the work I see over at the Projectguitar.com forums, but they get the job done.

...a 2003 Gibson Les Paul Standard '60 neck, with EMG pickups (81 on NECK and 85 on BRIDGE).

Ad the other one:

...a '96 Ibanez RG 550 LTD BK, with DiMarzio pickups (Tone Zone on Bridge, Blue Velvet in the middle and Air Norton on neck).

Seems like a Lounge thread to me, but here's my favourite gtr, some diy/mods...

It's like a 1950s Supro Dual Tone, but the body shape is like an earlier National, and the body carving is different. The control panel is odd, but appears to be original (original routing anyway, pots are early 70s, wired Tele-style). There's no serial number plate, so it could be constructed from leftover 50s parts in the late 60s or later, or a Valco staff 'custom' job). Tuners are first generation pat pending Grover Rotomatics, which I think are late 60s...

It had LP style tailpiece and bridge when I got it. I filled a couiple of holes and put on this brass resonator style TP (that I artificially aged), but subsequently have put on an old Bigsby (as there were old screw holes where one had been there in the past), and a repro Supro logo on the headstock.



I love these old Valco /Supro /Airline gtrs - have 3 of them (1, 2 and 3 pickups! they are single coil, but sound great IMO. I wanna do a series /parallel switching mod, I bought the new switch, but am a bit scared of doing it)

My current axe


G&L Tribute Legacy HB Premium. Now this is going to get me flamed by all the Fender nuts - but honestly next time you see one of these, whether it be korean or american, play it.
Mine is a tribute series, made in Korea - they cost the same as the Mexican Fenders - and are so much better hands down. I spent months looking at Mex Fenders and this thing totally beats every one I tried in every aspect.
Even though they are Korean, the pickups are the same as in the American Models, and QC is very tight.
Highly highly recommended!
BTW - G(George Fullerton)&L(Leo Fender). These axes are what Fenders were before being sold out.

My first axe is a custom shop I believe made in Australia. This thing is around late 80's I think I traced it. It has dings and worn frets, god I wish it didnt. I love the carved top and is the most awesome playing axe - nice pickups too.



This is a group shot, but it is to show the black guitar. It is a 1991 Japanese Ibanez RG570. I wish I hadnt sold it to be honest because they are getting quite sought after, the Jap ones. I started playing rock and blues more than metal, so I didnt need two metal axes anymore.
The amp in the background is an Ashton (Aussie brand) before anyone who knows of Ashton starter gear, this is an awesome amp for its price. 50w all tube, 70-80 speaker, electro harmonix tubes (soon to be changed). I am very happy with it, I bought it 2nd hand of a guy who only used it for home harmonica playing - mint condition and a bargain!
Effects are Boss CS-3, V847, SD-1, Zoom 505 (eww), and the channel and reverb switch on the amp. Long before any modding.



I'm not sure what the next axe will be, I'd love a nice LP copy, but cant stand the necks. My girlfriend has an Ibanez JTK-1 http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zzounds/JTK1IV-f95478be505ed297c4837c81bf3a046c.jpg hers is butterscotch but I'd like a white one, and change out the pups.

I had the chance to meet Buddy Guy in his greenroom on a tv show, I said here you go sir please bless my guitar! He picked it up,started playing acoustically, I was talking to him about the work done on the guit, but he was not there!, he was instantly in LaLa Land playing with his eyes closed. Man, thats why I respect guys like this, he gets into this vibe instantly, playing 30 seconds in a way that I will never achieve in my lifetime...
The SRV mod I did after trying one and realizing that the tremolo bar was at last usable! It took me about 3-4 days of heavy playing to get used to it, but now I would not change it for anything.Its fun to use it with the palm of my hand while playing.

The one on the left is a 1983 Tokia Silver Star that I bought off Ebay from a guy in Japan. Not much to say about it really, it's black, it's a strat, it's got a big headstock, doesn't get much cooler than that in my book.
The other one's a Squire Standard Strat with a Kent Armstrong humbucker in the bridge position with series/ parallel/single coil switching.
I've also got a 1981 Ibanez Musician which is a really nice guitar, I don't play it much these days though.

I always loved the look of these. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with getting catalogs from every guitar manufacturer I could think of, and I recall getting the Hamer catalog with a gorgeous full color picture of the Standards, Sunbursts and Specials. The pre-teen "rock and roll Roger"** really wanted a cherry sunburst Hamer Standard like nobody's business. I always loved Rick Neilson's (Cheap Trick) Hamer Standard.

That Gumby Head is awsome, did you do this from a template? and if so, where can I get it!!!

I'll play!  I'm a strickly Electra dude for awhile know.  I gotten every one very cheap, hell the Tele was 99 bucks.  Highly underated guitars.  They play great and have nice sounding pups.  Plus, if you know Electra's the two with the extra switches (MPC's Modular Powered Circuits, I think) have interchangable effects cartridges in the back.  Sweet!

This one is a FenixST20, with replacement lil59 and a jb jnr. I would have bought a proper fender strat but this one plays and sounds as good as many a Fender I have played. The frets are getting worn though, so I might replace the whole neck at some point



This is a Wesley. Got it for £71 delivered, new, from their ebay store. I bought it to practice some tech skills on (and basically butcher), like replacing the nut, tuners and so on as I wanted to get a warmoth and build one up myself. But actually this guitar is pretty good. I was amazed at the neck - it plays and feels just like an LP. The stock pickups were shite so I replaced them with a GFS Dream 90 and Dream 180. Well worth it, for little over £100 I have a very playable guitar, which I really wasn't expecting.
