This topic is for general guitar pictures, and not just guitars that you made, right?

Here's my strat. 1993 Am Std. A pickup broke before I moved south in 2001, and it sat disassembled in a box until 2008. I replaced the pickups with GFS '64 Stagger Vintage Grey-Bottoms, replaced all the electronics, shielded it with copper tape, put on a pearloid pickguard, and put on aged white knobs and pickup covers. It's wired for master volume/master tone/bridge blend, which I really like.

How are those GFS pickups, if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking at getting a set...

.Mike

I like them. They sound really good, although I admit that I haven't played any of the high-dollar "boutique" pickups.

I play through either a modified Valve Junior with a 1952 Jensen P12R, or through a Peavey Delta Blues, and it sounds good with both of them. I play mostly bluesy kind of stuff, and I wanted something that sounded traditional for a strat. I didn't want anything overwound because I thought they wouldn't be flexible enough. If I want a hot signal, I'll use a booster. I didn't want a "Texas" set since I don't really want to be pegged to one type of sound-- I'm not really looking to emulate SRV... heh.

The middle pickup isn't RW/RP, so there is no hum canceling. To me, this just adds to the charm. If I wanted a quiet guitar, I wouldn't have gotten a strat.

One thing I'm not so sure about is the staggered pole pieces. It is my understanding that they work really well with 7.5" radius necks, and most modern strats like mine have 9.5" necks. Still, the string-to-string volume balance is pretty even. It helps to have the string height set to the same radius as the fretboard. I use D'Addario EXL115 (.011-.049) strings.

The physical quality of the pickup seems comparable to the pickups that came in my guitar. They don't seem cheap by any means.

I can probably record some sound samples for you within the next few weeks. I've got a really nice recording setup, but I'm remodeling my office/studio room. Just a bit more plaster repair and a bit more paint...

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

Just got a new one yesterday. And now that I've bought a guitar and a bass within the span of 3 weeks, I've officially burned through all the money I set aside for gear for the year.

Agile AL-2000 HSBF Wide. Very nice.

That's just fantastic.  You are a real artist, and you should be extremely proud.

Will you ever play it?  I'd be so scared of dropping it or dinging it.

Thanks guys. Off course I'll play with this guitar. She's now my main guitar.
Dinging it gives it character, aren't we all so fond of mojo ;) I don't mind her becoming a relic guitar.

Relic's are fake, yours will be a well-played guitar.  Much better.

The oddest question I've ever had from a customer was the guy who was worried about the ding he'd put in his relic, so he asked me about touching it up.  He was worried because it wasn't an "original" ding.

LOL. And to think we make fun of drummers!

BTW, beautiful axe, Valoosj. I hope she plays as sweet as she looks.

How do you like that mastery bridge? I've been thinking about getting one for my Jag, but recently some Curtis Novak pickups set me back a bit so I'm waiting for approval from the wife.

It's a good bridge. Definitely worth the money.
