Awesome work guys....so much delicious guitar stuff on this thread.....I wanna share

I built this out of walnut and some pine for the back plate....Hand carved hollow body....The back looks like it came off a loading palette so Ill save myself the embarrassment  :icon_redface:

And i did some inlaying for the headstock....

nothing like the smell of hot Bovie in the morning....

sweet..^

i'm in the process of making an 85% scale SG -esque lefty body...with just  a hammer/chisel/and rasp file.. ;D

it started life as a church pew....ive got the body shaped, pocket cut, bolted the neck on to test with both E's...lines up nice, and intonation is bang on.

but don't be embarrassed...mine will be mass embarrassing for sure... :icon_redface: :icon_redface: :icon_redface:

if i ever show it of course... :)..but as long as it works i'll be using it for holidays/camping etc..

and i'm sure god isn't happy about you taking the church pew!....lol.....that is awesome re purposing of materials!

Pictures or it didn't happen ;)

Would love to see it, my hands are itching to build a guitar, but I don't have a place to do it. Just found out there's a place not too far away that sells lumber that would fit a guitar project. If you're not into pine casters finding timber in Sweden will be a problem :(

ps. That hollow body looks awesome.

the 'BODGE' guitar project... :D

you don't need a 'place', i have a vise outside my front door, and a living room table....thats my entire workshop.. ;D

heres what i started with..i printed out an 85% size SG, then sculpted it to more how i would like it..

heres my ''workshop'' ;D...and mrs astro's 'garden'

and after cutting, rasping..

since these pics were taken, i'm waiting on a lefty locking nut +  humbucker, ..the neck is bolted on for now, and lines up nice, intonation bang on,
the scratch plate will be made of polished copper clad pcb board , as maplins only charged me for one A4 board instead of two..ha ha...revenge is sweet.. :icon_twisted:

TOOLS: chisel/hammer/rasp file/straight edge ruler/pen/arms like popeyes sister in law. :icon_mrgreen:

...to be continued.......

the 'BODGE' guitar project...

Hmmm...  'BODGE' - interesting tuning.  Makes a change from EADGBE or DADGAD.   :D

I went into Maplins the other week and bought one of their cheapo piezo drivers - £9.99.  Handed over my crisp tenner to the geeky teen at the till.  His adolescent geek brain then went into unexplained meltdown, he hesitated giving me back my penny change, and muttered something about being a twat for not giving me the correct change from a twenty...

And then proceeded to fetch an extra tenner from the till.   :icon_eek:   Probably the one I'd given him a few seconds earlier.

Me: "Thank you.  Bye!"   :icon_biggrin:

Yeah, excellent "investment opportunity".   ;D   You'll have to hike all the way to Maidenhead to experience this particular specimen.

Hey, I picked up an LG-2 earlier this year as well.  Mine needs some work, though.  I still haven't decided who I am going to trust with it.

Ahh I do remember you posting about it (was it a LG-1 or LG-2?). Yours is a 50's iirc, yeah? I posted about the guitar at BYOC if you're interested...

The little one is my latest purchaes, a Hoefner. It was $150 and is a bit crap, but convenient when you're playing and fiddling with a circuit at the same time.
