advice please on signal fluctuation with vint electric mistress d lux

hi guys-
i recently got a vintage mains powered deluxe EM in very clean condition.
it seems to work ok but ive noticed that the volume level of the signal fluctuates quite noticeably with the sweep of the flange.....
it kind of peaks in volume at one point and then fades a bit and comes back if ya knowatamean....
i dont know if fussing with the trim pots would help ?  [ if i did id mark them with pencil so i could get it back to untampered state ]
any ideas ??
