Is the E-Bow still on the market?

I was thinking about buying one, but I don't see it in the Musician's Friend catalog anymore. Are they still around or did the sustainiac type pickups put them out of business?

Hey Paul,

I knew when I heard Phil Keaggy use an E-Bow, I had to get one.... have never regretted it.....

It was a little expensive, but my wife gave it to me as a birthday present!

If you can get one, you won't regret it.... especially since you have a Parker. Since the Parker bridge is cast to match the radius of the fret board, the E-Bow just glides across the strings..... SWEET

Thanks,

Mick

Awesome. I'm going to get one, I'm shopping around for the best price. It might turn out that my local Guitar Center will have the best deal...  :icon_cool:

Hey Paul,
I believe Francisco from Tonepad cloned the ebow.  I know you like to diy with a lot of things so you may want to check it out.  http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=34264.0

Yeah, I know about the clone, but I would rather just buy one in this case.   :icon_wink:

BTW, I went to Guitar Center today, they didn't have one. They told me that as soon as they get some in, they are gone. I guess I'll order one online...  :icon_cool:

That seems to be the case with anyone who sells those things.  :icon_confused:

I've got one of the old black plastic E-Bows...it really is a great device. I have a friend, an experimental musician named Tim Catlin, who uses his a lot. I was a t his house the other day, and I saw that he had four of them...I was flabbergasted. Maybe he could use two at once, but four? They were all different models, I will admit.

Paul Perry did a mod on one of them, I think. A low battery mod. You get some different effects that way...

Chris

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

Yeah, low battery for the ebow for Tim Catlin! Did a box with a variable voltage regulator, plus a series pot.
I also opened up one that Tim had that had broken. I can't recommend rolling you own! the wire in the coil made hair look like rope :icon_eek: .
incidentally, while I don't recommend DIY ebowing, I do think that - for the wilder experimental noize crew - some joy may come from sending sharp pulses to an electromagnet in an effort to 'pluck' strings at say 50 times a second. Won't be mellow or violinish, though.....!

Ah, hello Paul. I still mean to come around and use your measuring doohickeys to discover the pinout of my mystery 2n531 Ge trannies...

I think Tim makes some fairly good E-Bow style effects with a variety of vibrating sex toys. That might be a good solution for the E-Bowist on a budget (who isn't embarrassed to go into a sex shop).

For all you looking for an ebow I have bad news. I work at guitar center and the word coming from the ebow company is they are not making them until end of winter. I'm not trying to start and gossip but that is the word straight from the company.... ebay or a store that DOES have them IN STOCK!

Matt

Man, that sucks! I finally decide to get one and now this?!  :icon_rolleyes:

Oh , well. I'm sure I'll get one eventually...  :icon_cool:

Ebay is the best way...or search around in a used store for one...
