Vox Treble Booster into distortion

i saw on the vox treb boo (haha) schem that if you replace the input cap with a .01 or .022 (more bass, which im using) it overloads the booster and causes a nice crunchy distortion, has anyone else done this?
i bought the parts yesterday and after i get some ferric chloride im gonna do this, and try some output clipping to

Yes, they will "crunch" a bit if you do that, I quite like my "Rangemaster" as a "Full Rangemaster" !!
- use a switch to change the cap and have both !  - like the Keeley Java boost.
( rather than just a top booster )

would replacing the 1k emitter resistor with a 1k pot act has a control of some sort?

  Does the E resistor have a bypass cap on it?

the emitter has both a 1k resistor and a 10uf polarized cap in parallel from the emitter
