Ah, okay. Cool.

EDIT: Ah, seems Fulltone doesn't sell their inductors, has their wah pots up, but no link to actually buy it..

jonathan perez

thats because you cant buy direct and they dont sell inductors anymore. unless you want to pay 40 bucks for that inductor, i suggest you stick to the whipple. they measure at a constant 500-510 mH 30 ohms.

go find the technology of the wah at geofex.com...

you probably wont, so heres a link...

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

forsaknazrael

I've read it before. What about it?

23 bucks for a whipple. Alrighty.

Paul Marossy

Who makes the "whipple" inductor?! I've never heard of that one before...  :icon_confused:

I've read that replacing the stock transistors with BC109C's is a good idea. Any truth to that? Any experience?

i changed the mpsa18 on my vox v847 with a pair of bc109 (i tried bc107 as well and work good too), and it's a good idea!

the wah becomes more vocal, i bit more bass and less gainy sound, more vintage like

jonathan perez

this fella Mike from brooklyn makes them, hes a good guy. very trustworthy. funny, too.

hi! i want my wah to sound like Hendrix (Rainy Day, Dream Away) or Corrosion Of Conformity (Congratulations Song). I need something aggressive, and i dont know if i should buy the yellow or red fasels (i live in south america, so i doubt i can get the whipple...
also, what transistor should i use to get an aggressive sound...

You might be able to get more modifications to your sound with other component changes, rather than a fasel change. What kind of wah do you have?

The Red Fasel is the inductor for agressive rock, and I would also suggest changing the transistors to BC109B's. This is how I get that low throaty grind from my Wah.

But I associate the Yellow Fasel with the Hendrix/Clapton wah sound.

I just recently bought all the wah transistors I could find from Small Bear. Gonna be trying them all out soon. So far, I'm real happy with the BC109C's for cleaning up the sound when I DON'T want the grind from the BC109B's.

Where'd ya get the BC109B's? Smallbear only seems to have 109, 109C, and 108's.

LoudGreg

BC109B's are not impossibe but hard to find. I got mine from a guy in the UK but he's not araound any more.  :icon_rolleyes:

Google it and just keep at it till you find them. Well worth the effort. I over paid for mine (Shipping was the killer on the $$$) but I have no regrets.

well, i thought i might just take over john's thread:P

anyway, to get that hendrix/vintage wah sound from my v847 - should i just go with changing the pot and inductor, or are any other mods necessary?
Gimme gimme shock treatment.

lots of mods!

heres my favorite page, use it as a guideline. the inductor/pot change are only PIECES to the puzzle.

I bought a Whipple inductor for my wah after hearing about it on here. After all the messing around I did with my wah this made the biggest improvement in the way it sounds. I used to have an old red fasel wah that I lent to someone and never got it back. To me this whipple inductor sounds better than that fasel did. It sounds fantastic either clean or into an overdrive or fuzz.

jonathan perez

thats because thats what the original halos sounded like. the new fasel inductors measure anywhere between 500 and 700 mH, usually more towards 700mH.  that will give you a fatter, not so clear on the top end kind of tone, which is usually not what people are looking for when buying replacement/upgrade inductors. they have a certain sound to them, but you gotta be looking for THAT tone, i suppose. if you want classic tone/a halo inductor, spend the extra 5 bucks and buy the whipple.

i was thinking about the whipple...it sounds pretty kool especially for the price

what i wanted to do though, is see what my v847 sounds like with a fulltone pot (where can i get one btw?) and a halo inductor

oh, john frusciante uses the WH-10...what inductor does that use?
