Have been playing around a charge pump and got the ICL7660S working pretty good with my FSH1 ! woo! goodbye second power supply.

Anyway, I have discovered that this ICL7660S unlike the regular ICL7660 has the BOOST function on pin1 just like the MAX1044, and it takes the signal noise right out, its also a bit cheaper than the hard to find 1044. Rapid have them for 65p.  Just make sure its the S version. Exschellentay.

I was just thinking about this and looking on GEO at the MAX1044 info. That ICL7660S sounds useful. Thanks for that. By the way....what's a FSH1?

Maestro  Filter Sample & Hold?   My guess....I may be wrong by the way!

Arn is right.
I´ve been using the ICL7660S, it works great, no whine, AND it´s pin compatible with the MAX1044. The 1044 is unavailable here in Argentina.

Yeah the amazing sample+ hold. Its got to be my favourite effect ever, plug it into fuzz/distortion then into a blue box and you can make crazy random sounds by just single notes :D.

Aye I went and ordered some max1044s from germany, I've not seen anywhere here in the UK that has it.. only got this 7660s to see how bad the whine would be and if it was workable.. I was under the assumption from everything I've read about the 7660 that only the max1044 would be proper in an audio circuit. So I thought I'd post what I have found here just in case anyone else has the same. :)

I posted a sample of my FSH-1 from tonepad on my sound samples website if you want to check it out.

Excellent! I would record clips of all my stuff too, one day... one day...

Anyway that gives me some idea of what to expect from the tonepad version when I get round to building it. I stripboarded the ggg one like a loony, I've decided to take up etching for this one though :).

I suspect its probably down to the setup your running through and adjusment maybe, but it sounds a little bit smoother.. less harsh on the high tones, than mine. What does the resonance control do on the tonepad version?

I had the FSH-1 PCB made for me by $uperpuma (Nate). He did a great job.  I perfboarded all of the rest of my builds.  The resonance if set too high might get that harsh high end peaks you mentioned.  So that pretty much is what it does.
