OK So far I've got the following ready for this weekend:
Dr. Boog
Obsidian
BlackFire w/ Dr. Boog presence control
BSIAB II
Guv'nor with Wampcats high gain mods
Vulcan
Chaos

I've got a BMP with the Creamy Dreamer mods... but I dont think of it as a high gain (dont get me wrong, its an animal) but its not in the same genre as the others.

I thought about the Shakka Express and the 16- but I dont want to mess with the powering of those 2 on this project.

Any others I shold whip together real quick???

Thanks for the input guys. I'll write up my findings early next week.

Swiss-Army Knife of Distortion Boxes: SansAmp GT2 - accept no substitutes!!!!  :icon_evil:

I used to love the Sansamp GT-2. But after using the Sansamp Tri-AC, when going back to the GT-2 everything sounded scooped. My friend used a TS-7 with his GT-2 just to put them mids back in. Maybe a better recommendation is the Sansamp Classic.

Although it is not an over-the-top-super-high gain pedal, I've always considered my BSIAB2 an high gain pedal (for example, you can play John Petrucci with it), plus it's got a wonderful sound.

I've never built a Dr.Boogie so I can't compare, but the BSIAB2 is a must build IMO.

Ha! Maybe YOU can play Petrucci with it!  :icon_cool:
It'd take more than a pedal for me to get there.

I'm serious!!
I'll record a sample when I find the time!

Of course it doesn't have the same amount of gain as Petrucci uses, but enough to play at least some if not most of his parts.
IMO, constantly using all that gain is a decision he made, but that doesn't mean those solos or rhythm parts cannot be played with a tad less gain.
Note: when I talk about Petrucci or Dream Theater I always refer to the band whose last album was Scenes From A Memory... not the nu-metal progressive band or the progressive Muse cover band!!

Finally I could record a couple of quick and rough clips using my BSIAB2 and playing John Petrucci... IMO gain is enough! But hear by yourself:

home.tele2.it/shredgd

Recorded with a PRS Custom 24 and a Marshall JMP-1 preamp using its clean 1 tone (bass 0, mid -1, treble 1, presence -1). Boss GX-700 in the fx loop to add a delay and a reverb. Emulated outputs of the JMP-1.

Note: my BSIAB2 has a 560p cap at C5 and a 1u cap at C8. I also added a 22k resistor at the C8 side of the tone pot, to get a more fine tuning of the lower range of the tone pot (I often find pedals trebly with my gear). However I recorded the clip with my tone knob maxed (which should correspond to 3 o'clock in the stock tone pot, I think). Gain was at 3 o'clock.

BSIAB 2 comes to my mind on the opening riff of Damage Control.

from Octavarium:
DUDE! Never Enough sounds JUST like that Muse song...from BH&R, i think...

I Walk Beside You sounds JUST like a U2 ripoff...

the BSIABII is preeeeeetty cool...
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Traintrack

I just finished a Highway 89, it is over the top! Very high gain.

I have it next to the BSIAB and it is way more evil.

The dogs are all barking in my town.
