im gonna get my drink on tonight and pass out.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

jlullo

i know mouser has them as well....

steve is fantastic, though, so you should ALWAYS buy from him :)

If you're timing is right, you can sometimes find them in my garbage can!  :icon_lol:

(But only when I happen to be ripping the noisy, drifty bastards out of an old amp or pedal so I can get my silence and tone back.)

If you buy them in bulk they are really cost efficient. What I've started doing is buying a few select values every month in the 1000s. Eventually Ill have all the values I commonly sue on hand anytime i need......no more running out to radioshack right before they close to overpay for resistors!!

carbon comps? 5% right?
i buy them for... err...
200pcs per dollar.
Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

rockgardenlove

Sounds like you guys are talking about carbon film...

films are tiny and round, comps are bulky and sharp-edged cylinders.

The dark brown sharp edged cylinder type ones? www.banzaieffects.com. I think they're even on sale (extra cheap) there right now.
I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or His Dudeness or Duder or El Duderino if you're not into that whole brevity thing.

extra cheap? they are still about 30p /60cents each

chieljan

Well alright, not quite EXTRA then :)
Just think of the amount of MOJO these things will give you! 30p /60cents is still cheap for that!  :D

Err, nevermind.

Thanks for posting that link, it was an interesting read.  I'm going to start making my own resistors out of Kingsford charcoal...talk about MOJO!  You want smokey tones...this baby has authentic Kingsford comp resistors.

chieljan

That's really cool, your own built resistors :D

and RG says wise words there :)

Carbon comp resistors are shit. However, you should be able to get them at Mouser and Digikey.

Hey, you don't need to do that. Just run double the rated power through your carbon comps (or anything else)--you'll get smokey tones, alright!  :icon_razz:
