Hello!

After a long time working only in the digital domain I decided to go back and play some with the stuff I still have around.
A friend of mine gave me a GDI 21 behringer stompbox to be fixed: the led doesn't turn on when you press the switch, and no sound goes off of it.
So the first thing in my mind to be checked was the switch.
Ok ... took all the stuff off of the box and damn ... I have never saw that switch before.
I couldn't understand the way it works, and the way the switching system works ... so, if anyone could give me any info about, any light... I'd be really glad.
Thank you,
Gabriel

Well, forgot to ask...

If anyone has links to websites wich could guide me in this journey (any info about the gdi as schematics, parts info, ...) would be real nice.

Works with the  battery? I've got a BDI21 and the dc connector died but still works with the battery

The GDI21 is a clone of the sansamp GT-2, so look at www.tonepad.com.

There is a small pcb right under the actuator where the switch located at. It has the same common switching system using transistor flipflop circuit used in many commercial stompboxes, so you should also check that circuit specially the transistors.

Well it doesn't work with baterry...
I will check with a dc supplier tonight .....

Anyway .... I can't see any damaged components by naked eye .... and since the let doesn't turn up and no sound goes out, I think the problem is between the power source in and the switching system ....
Gonna check out with tools tomorrow :D
Thanks and please keep comming with info if you have them...

About this system .... i can't seem to understand it... there's a microswitch and the nothing comes to my mind .... :( any tips ?

I see the microswitch keeps opened till you press it, then it makes the connection and opens again as you release it ... so when you step it's like it let a "pulse" go, but I don't know how this pulse acts to switch the system.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. I have a Behringer GDI 21 that is a great sounding device but works only with a battery and not with an adapter. I got the unit 2nd hand and was wondering if anyone here knew what the issue is. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kevin

Welcome, Kevin.

Have you taken the back off and peered inside?  I have a BDI 21 and there were a couple of wires that had just broken clean off the board, and this just from sitting untouched on a shelf!

If there anything like a DOD pedal, the wires are thin and do break off one after the other just by looking at them.

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.
