Hi all,

Looking to build a Jumbo Tone Bender clone.  I've been to the Fuzz Central website, and it looks pretty straight forward.  Is there some verified layouts, or etched PCBs available for that circuit?  Also, the transistors listed are BC184C's.  Are these the best ones to use, or do they have to be biased a certain way?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks,

Lyle

I believe this is a BMP relatively.

I think it'll fit on a BMP board, verify that or wait 'till someone chimes in, GGG and Tonepad have BMP layouts.

The transistors bias with the values shown in the circuit schematic.
15k and other values have been used for the collector resistors in BMP's/etc..
  2n5088 is a good HG/LN transistor seen in BMP's.

minus the LPB boost at the end, I hear the Jumbo suffered from pretty low output, and it needs the boost to get to the right volume with the bypassed signal of some guitars.

So the BMP board will build the JTB, and have room for the recovery transitor should you choose to use it.

This was one of the first circuits I built after trying a B&M fuzz at a recording studio which is the same circuit. It doesn't sound the same as the triangle muff but is rawer and doesn't have quite the same sustain. It is very loud though. I used BC184C transistors for both above pedals and had no problems with either.
