Amazing as it may seem, this circuit seems to be sinking into the abyss of the forum.
Too bad, it was alot of work.  :icon_frown:

I wish I had the time to experiment with all those great projects and this one in particular !
I hope you and all the other lords of the diystompboxes will keep on, even if the basic newbies like me don't give you the reponse you expect. In my case, there's a great part of what I do (in stompbox building of course  :icon_lol:) that is really easier thanks to all your work.
And I thank you for that.

This one is going to the top of my to-build list. I've been intrigued by this tremolo solution for a long time and considered trying to make a stompbox version. Now, it seems that you and R.G did the work for me...  ;)

It will be great fun to build and experiment with this circuit!

markm

It's all good.
I was just amazed how fast this thread quickly went down when the original thread inquiring about the dilemma of no stompbox version of this circuit was what......5 pages maybe?
Here's the "solution" that is hand designed by R.G. Keen, whom was kind enough to give us this fine creation and donated his time to making the final layout a reality. And it goes away un-noticed.
I understand and I am not mad nor upset about it, just amazed.
I can tell you, I have hours in this thing but, it was a labor of love afterall!  :-*
Now I have one of the hottest sounding Vibes going and I'm happy......see?  :)

I have my eye on this too, MarkM.
I know very well how much goes into this kind of development and I appreciate you work.
Sometimes the forum can be a bit of a black hole when you send a labor of love out there to seemingly little response.

Kudos to you and RG for your excellent work.  :D

The 1uf caps c16, c17, c18 & c19 can polarized be used, or do they have to be non-polarized?

Thanks!

mark your layouts are awesome thanks!

Thank you.

It may have a wave or two wash over its little head every so often, but believe me, it's not sinking!
Matter of fact, I think it just surfaced in the quiet, sunlit lagoon that I call my Build List!  :icon_mrgreen:

It would be better if they were nonpolarized - in fact, it would be better if they were plastic film.

Mouser has  this one: EPCOS 1uF/63V 871-B32529C105K189 $0.56 each. You can use Mouser's 140-NPRL50V1.0-RC which is electrolytic NP, and $0.18 each, but they'll drift around on you. I like the film ones.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Great work MarkM and RG , I was beginning to run out of stuff to build !!! :icon_mrgreen:
A decent vintage vibrato is right up my street !

If you had to approximate, how slow would you say you can get this thing?
I like amps etc.

ulysses

im going to build it tonight so i will let you know how i get on soon.

cheers

It's a miracle!  :icon_lol:

well i have been delayed in finishing it until tomorrow.

i thought it was thursday and presumed jaycar would be open late, where in reality it is friday and jaycar is shut. really need to get some more sleep.

did make the pcb though. iron on transfer slipped when putting it on.

i reworked the graphics of the pcb. hope you dont mind mark ;)

markm

Nahhh,
I don't mind at all!
I usually put some "fill" into my transfers as well because it allows faster etching but this time I left it out.
Have fun!  :)

Oh man!  hadn't been on here in a while.  I've been looking for a pedal to do this particular vibe for years now.  I was fortunate enough to play a brownface vibrato and was totally hooked on the sound.

I'm completely pumped about this, just need to order some of the trannies now.  Mark, thankyou! :icon_mrgreen:

Incidently,
If you go into the Gallery, you'll see 2 versions of this circuit.
The Original and the Vibra-Tone.
I worked through some minor speed issues that I had with the build and R.G. guided me as to how to remedy said issues.
It worked out fabulously! Mr. Keen is quite talented indeed!  :icon_wink:
The Vibra-Tone is the updated version seen here;  http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album76/ProVibrato_LAYOUT_revised_2
Please note, the Original version is easily modded to the current version so, don't be alarmed if any of you have etched the original board.
This came about after "field-testing" the circuit for awhile to try and determine any limitations or problems it may potentially have.
Thanks for your support everyone and a Big Thank You to R.G. for all the assistance in making this circuit come to life!  8)

i just finished this one.

sounds really nice.

all went smooth except for one diode round the wrong way that stumped me for about 15mins! i should know better.

will post some pics and samples and i have a couple of questions for rg shortly :)

cheers

hey guys

as i mentioned in my last post, i have uploaded some pics and an mp3 demo of the pedal to my layouts section of the gallery.

i have a couple of questions for rg :)

1. i have a quite serious volume drop compared to the clean signal. do you think this is becasue i used 5458's instead of 5952's.. ???

2. how does the wiring to the input ring affect normal power bypassing. why does it have to pass through the input jack? can it be routed straight to ground? i usually use the ring as a power cut to ground so the pedal has no power with no cable jack inserted. i usually wire the board grounds to the input jack ring and the power ground to the input sleeve..

replacements made:
5458's instead of 5952's
220pf instead of 250pf
.047uf instead of .05uf
.0047uf instead of .005uf
used 1uf tant caps for the non-polar 1uf caps.

cheers
