UGHHH!

Exposed it with 100 w light bulb 12" away through plexiglass ontop of transparency.
Exposed for approximately 10 minutes.

Put in datak developer nothing happens...

Read board instructions again, "mix developer 9:1" check...
Read developer instructions "mix 3:1"
Huh?

So I put in two more parts developer and swoosh everything including my circuits washes away where the concentrate was introduced...

LEAVING me this....

Bare copper, super faded circuit where still visible, or solid photo resist.

Left the board in for a couple more minutes nothing changes.  Take out board, wonder what I can use it for now.  Inser palm into face rub vigorously, open a leine's sit down and type this.

Now, expose my flaws,,, what did I do wrong.  (what didn't I do wrong)???

I've had some touchy results with the Datatek stuff, too. Instead of plexiglass, you might go to Home Depot or something and get some glass cut, but that's not really what you're asking about, is it..? :)

See if any of this sounds familiar when using the developer:

1. OMG, that was fast, and my traces are washing away...!
Dilute your developer. I use about 10:1, which gives me some time to rock the board back and forth a bit to see how the developing is coming along

2. This is taking forever... :(
Be patient, but if you -have- to add more developer, take the board out until you've mixed the new dose into the rest of the diluted solution. Then try the board again. I've noticed that sometimes when the solution is taking its own sweet time about things that I'll get some, umm... ghosting? between the traces that is hard to get out once I start etching. This is usually prevented by leaving a board that's slow to develop in the solution a bit longer than you think you should.

Now, it's just an opinion, but there have been times I get the feeling I'm not using "fresh" developer (if there -is- such a thing) because of the difference in speed using the same ratios. I build in spurts - maybe a half dozen builds in a month or 6 weeks, and then I may not get back to it for several months, so I've suspected that my developer stock sits on the shelf too long. Again, I don't know if aging has a significant affect on this stuff. Like you, I've noticed that the board packaging says one thing and the bottle says another. I usually go with something based on what the bottle's telling me and alter it according to the results I'm getting -that- day.

Regardless, I like the results it gives when I get it dialed in. Hope any of this helps, and good luck.
Little time to do it right. Always time to do it over.

yeah the plexiglass occurred to me as a culprit as though maybe it refracted differently.  Also, I think the transparency sheet was upside down. IE:Face up.

thanks for your ideas.
