Covering holes before etching?

For a rather good sounding but dull looking Phase45 clone I decided to do an etch (check out the pictures thread in a couple of days!) The problem is that the holes are already drilled. I've painted the sides and front, PnP'd the image on, ready to etch. How would I cover the holes? Will electricity tape work? Gaffer/duct? Should I just paint the inside of the box as well? I'd like to cover instead of paint the insides if in any way possible.

Any ideas?

Probably the best thing to do IMO is tape over the holes with masking tape -or- duct tape.
I've done it and, it works.  ;)

Perfect! That was what I was going to do, just wanted to see if someone had any experience with it. Thanks!

What the professionals (not me!) use, is that latex stuff (a milky solution that dries to a greyish/white rubber that peels off afterwards).
It's pretty tough, I've seen it used to block holes while a board went through a solder bath! (preserved the holes for components to be hand mounted on the back of the board, to give two layers of pots along the edge). Art supply places stock it (useful for masking sections when spraypainting).

I did the "Fuzzerella" etch that way.
It was a used enclosure  I received in a trade.

i would paint the inside of the hole to, just so the solution doesnt etch that!

Quick follow-up: I used duct tape and it worked perfectly. I was afraid the etchant might eat the glue on the tape or something, but it doesn't.

My etch is the best so far, filler paint is drying as we speak!

Congratulations!
Glad it worked out for you.  ;)
