TS9DX compared to Full-Drive 2

Well, I finished modding up the TS9DX I have. I used a 1n4148 and a1n4001 in TS9 mode for clipping, 1n4148 and LED in series 1n4001 and LED in series for + mode, 1n4001 and 2 1n4001's in series for Hot mode. I played a gig last night and the pedal sounded HARSH compared to my Full-Drive 2. My TS9DX sounded like a buzz saw compared the the Full-Drive. Could the clipping choices I chose be the culprit. I mooded everything else up according to all the info I have found on the net and the way I like it. Could the use of the 1n34a diode in the Full-Drive be the solution for my TS9DX??? Are thier any other type of clipping combinations you guys like for this type of pedal? Thanks
