Yes...another Fuzz Face post.....  :)

I've built it according to the Fuzz Central layout and used germ transistors from Small Bear. Makes a great fuzz tone, but I find that the pedal is almost silent until the volume knob is at about 3 o'clock, at which point the control is very sensitive - getting the level right is like cracking a safe!

The board is as per layout apart from installing a 1k resistor 'boost' mod (replacing the 470R). It is biased correctly.  Is this normal for a Fuzz Face?

Thanks,

Andy.

I had a similar problem. Turned out the pot was dodgy. Try replacing it. Either that or you`ve miswired it somehow.

It sounds to me like you've used a LINEAR potentiometer.
We experience differences in audio level in a non-linear fashion...
First you turn the pot and nothing happens, which is because the conductive surface doesn't start right away...
Then you reach the conductive part and you will have some ten percent of the total turning action to reach maximum
audio level and then... no change...

could this explain your problem???    :o

Yeah, I'm aware of that possible cause. There's definitely a log-pot in there. I have another one somewhere so maybe I should just throw it in there and rule out a dodgy pot.

Thanks.

Andy.
