Hi, could anyone help me on this..I like to have my Fender FM65 DSP a line out so that I don't need to use microphone going to our mixer. It has a phone out but if I use it there would be no sounds coming out as my monitor. Schematic and instructions would be a big help. Thanks guys  :icon_lol:

CG,
Hi, this would be complicated mod I thought it's just like pedal mod :icon_biggrin: I browse to your link and if I'm right I need or i'll be using an output transformer for a LINE OUT mod? Is there a simple way and effective?

Thanks,
Roger

You could take this and put it in your amp instead of in a box like I did:
http://www.diyguitarist.com/GuitarAmps/LineOutBox.htm

You might have to experiment with it a little bit to get best results...

Roger:

Yes, there is an easier way and I overlooked it (I think). You said that when you used your phone out you can hear your amp as a monitor. This is because the jack is a switched type that breaks the connection (between the preamp and power amp) when you insert the plug. To avoid this locate where the jack breaks the connection and put a jumper and you're done. As simple as that. Please let me know if I'm right.

CG and Paul,
Thanks guys i'll try this two options. Paul, your volume retrofit  project  you use with your Ernie volume pedal was a log pot or linear pot ? Can I use the project for my wah co'z the pot is already scratchy. I'm using log pot for my wah.

Again thanks CG and Paul,

I believe that it is a log pot. It's the one that came with the volume pedal, a volume controls are usually always log type pots...

Thanks Fixr1984, but my Fender has only phone out and no speaker out. Is this the same? if same this can be done isn't it?

Thanks Paul, this means I can use the project volretrofit to my wah co'z my pot is somewhat scracthy. Strange that I take out my Zoom vol/exp pedal the pot was linear ???

No, is not the same. The phone out signal is taken from the preamp (or from the power amp with a speaker simulator type circuit) and the speaker out signal is taken from the power amp. Try the mod that I recommended you. It will work.

It looks very simple.
This mod is very intriguing to me.  My Crate XT120R has a extension speaker jack on it.  I have been looking for something like this for quit a while.  My only question is, is there a way to add a line level pot to it, that way I can adjust the level of the line out?  Also would this mod be effective to use the line out and plug into a mixer?

Ok i did this mod to my amp.  It works great.  The only problem is that when I hae it plugged into my extension speaker jack, the volume of my amp drops.  I can hear it through the speakers and it sounds great, all my tone is still there.  but the volume decreases a good bit.  Low enough to where i dont need ear plugs.

Remember that a signficant part of your guitar sound is as a result of coming out of a speaker - taking *just* the line out signal straight to the desk will result in a quite different sound to what you are expecting...  Best be would be to put a speaker sim stompbox-type-jobbie after your line out...

DBDbadreligion

well im not worried about the sound.  i made some recordings and it sounds fine.  my problem is that when I have the line out box plugged in the the extension speaker jack, the AMPS volume drops.  Meaning it was really loud coming out of the speakers and now it is significantly dropped coming from the speakers.

Sounds like you're loading down the output.
What kind of resistance reading is your line out to ground?

What's the input impedance of your board (mixer) it should be high.

Funny story, one of my friends changed the speaker in one of those Fender solid-state amp and said it sounded spectacular afterwards. I think it was a G-DEC or FM, but I am not  certain.

Here is the one I just recently used on my valve Jr.
I dont notice a volume drop when connected to the line out and it seems to sound real close to what
you hear from the speaker. Altho I havent used it other than to test to see if it worked.

How do I check the resistance reading?
The input impedance of the mixer is (according to it's manufactures website) it is 40k ohm's or more.
