A quick question on guitar wiring <- killswitch

I have a guitar with 2 pickups, one master volume and one master tone control.

I've had a killswitch added on for quite some time (just connects the hot wire to ground), its located between the 3-way switch and the tone/volume controls. Would it be more beneficial (eg: less popping) if it were placed between the volume and the the output jack (though that would me require to run a longer wire)
or if its fine the way it is, what could I do to circumvent the popping?

i've done some googling but cant find anything conclusive. Would it be better to wire the SPDT as selecting between the hot wire and ground rather than connecting the 2 together?

My thoughts are to run the switch a close the output jack as possible for less noise.  Technically you are connecting the 2 together...a killswitch generally sends the signal to ground.  Maybe try this - put a jumper across the ground & output legs of your volume pot to send signal to ground.  Also try 'lifting' the signal (pot input) wire, altho I think it will be noisier.    If jumping it does the trick, wire up a SPDT so that in 1 position, it jumps the same way....other position, open/normal.  It's just a wire from ground and output lug of pot to switch.   Possibly a small cap (1nF) between the 'hot' and ground lugs at the switch will help popping.

Use any of these methods (as you've got a master volume and a 3-way switch, all should work fine).

I wonder why it would cause popping. All it's doing is grounding the signal.

It could even be a dodgy switch. Are you using a momentary or latching?
