Just add a Blue LED to any pedal and it will instantly sound better.. j/k

But seriously whats the deal with all the blue LEDS out there..

what are you guys doing to your stuff, just cuirious

I personally try to make the color of the LED match the pedal or keep colors with pedal type...

I use green for my overdrives.. ( real inventive i know ) and Yellow for my distortions
I have found that keeps alot of guess work out of the picture on a dark stage , if the Green light is still on then you know what it is...

Just another stupid thread.

since BOOTEEK has been a big hit lately, people will think that you:

a) spent $7000 on a custom overdrive/distortion pedal
b) got your overdrive/distortion modded by Keeley,ANALOGMAN, or Monte Allums...FOR ONLY $7000!
c) bought a BYOC and built yourself a super customized, hand built, professional quality tone bender with a BLUE LED for those awfully dim-lit stages! (as a performer, believe me, having no spotlights/stagelights suck! after all, we only play in the dark...)
d) after spending hours on the internets searching google for "led mods," you finally figured out that you could go on ebay, spend 10 bucks on 3 or 4 blue LEDS, and customize your pedals, bringing out their truest potential in tone!
e) all of the above

i love Mike, Robert, and Monte...so dont think i was taking off on them... :)
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Plinky

I like the super bright blue LEDs so I can make shadow puppets on the ceiling at a gig. :D

I think the simple answer is that after 20 years of only having red (or yellow or green) LEDs, it's cool to use blue ones because it's different. Of course, since many boutique and modded pedals are all using blue LEDs nowadays, it's not different anymore.

That's my answer, at least.

They make pink and purple ones now too... those will go for even more money.

jschwalls

lol, i put a pink LED in my MT2 since pink and Metal go together so well...

choklitlove

i've used ultra-violet before.  it makes the whole pedal glow.
my band.                    my DIY page.                    my solo music.

You ought to use IR LEDs then change extra money for the special glasses so that people can tell if the effect is on or off.

Oh and say the IR makes it sound better.

MOST of my builds have RED.
Ya know why?
'Cause today, it truly is different not to mention, Classic!

jakenold

I like to match them to the effects as well!

I also like those RGB that shifts color... I should show you guys a video of my wah some time  ;D

I see blue led's as an alternative to red, so since I try to be the alternative to alternative and I just put a 100 watt light bulb on top.

I built an Orange Squeezer compressor for a friend of mine and I put an orange LED in it. When I showed it to him he told me that I'm nuts. So you see, it had the desired effect.  ;D

GREEN FUZ

I`m  a lot more popular with the Ladies since using blue. I`d never go back now.

Dragonfly

Blue is the color of mojo.

Thats why I use green. Or white. Or UV. Or red.

i have a blue amp jewel on one of my amps. i used to have a pair of blue sneakers. i use blue picks and i once wrote a poem about the color blue. i'm feeling blue about the poem.

I have to say that this type of mod is the best thing in the world if are playing a show with a bunch of other bands that don't know what they are doing. I've played shows were the people clearly know nothing about the stuff they are playing but love to brag about how nice it is and how much it costs. If you've got something modded with a different lamp jewel or LED it is so easy to convince them you are in the possesion of a "Super Rare Vintage Voodoo SRV Special Tube Screamer Deluxe." You know it's different because of that green LED!

I've seen this done a couple times now and it is so much fun to watch.

I've got nothing against the ill informed playing music. But I get such a sick feeling in my stomach when they are playing on rigs that cost well over 4K that they know nothing about. I just keep telling myself, "Some people's parents just have the money to burn." and try to blow it off. But it's when they start bragging about the gear that I let myself get even.

I let myself get ripped of on ebay for some diffused PINK leds.  They are actually a white LED with a pink filter cast into the plastic. I'm almost out because I put them in everything and love them so much.  I wish small bear would carry them.
