Log or linear?

Will it make much difference to use a 25K linear pot instead of a log as volume for a EA Tremelo? The bill calls for a 25K log pot but I don't think small bear carries one.
Thanks

I should think the linear would work but, the sweep may act strange.....all the volume may be in the last part of it but, it will work.
My build just uses a trimmer for the volume.
One less pot to have to screw with!

The only difference that you will experience is the feel when you turn up and turn down the volume. For example is you move a linear pot half way it will have half resistance (more or less), but with a log pot you will have to move it to two o'clock (more or less) to obtain half resistance.

The trim pot is a really good idea. Would it be hard to add in the place of the pot for a newb? I love the idea thought that's a set and leave it kind of feature.

Thanks

What's the layout your using?

I'm using the GGG flashing led layout

It's a bit more difficult on that one as there's no place to mount the trimmer.
The trimpot will kinda have to dangle inside.  :-\
Anyway, wire one of the outside lugs of the trimmer to ground, the middle lug to the output (blue wire) and the other outside lug to the location with the brown wire marked "V3" on the layout.
That should work fine.
Here's a look at mine if it helps you;

Let me look at it another way. Could I just use a 50K pot instead of the 25K? Then I won't get it screwed up.

Sure.
It would work with probably alot of the sweep unused but, Yes.
Should work fine.
Happy tremming!  :D

The 25K pot in the EA trem controls speed, not volume. A linear taper pot does not work well for that, because most of the change of speed gets compressed into the last 10% of the rotation. A couple of choices:

--If you don't mind the counter-intuitiveness of having the top speed at the counter-clockwise end, use  50K audio. OR

--Spend some more money for a 50K reverse audio. This spreads out the change of speed and also puts the slow speed at the CCW end where most people expect it.

damn mark, every time i start an EA from your gallery, you have to go and make a new version!   ;)
