hey all, I damaged the output amplifier for the carrier output section of my moog ringmod, and have opened it up to do some repairs... but   I wanted to know if anyone knew the proper method of removing the knobs on the moogerfoogers ? they have no set screw, and the knobs don't seem to want to pull off, I'm afraid of damaging them or scratching up the face of this thing, fumbling with the wrong tools

anyone ever properly disassemble one of these before ?

Let's know how - if you had a problem, I'll probably have a problem!
Not that I am ever likely to have a Moog Ring Modulator, of course! :icon_wink:

- and while you are in there - is there a noise gate?

Paul-

The carrier is controlled by envelope, so when there's no signal comming in, the carrier is shutdown, so it's very quiet.

Does your Ring Mod, have the carrier signal always running, even when you're not playing?

there's a noise gate, its one of the things I don't like about this ring mod, all  my others are gate-less (lovetone, EMS, electroharmonix, etc)

you just need to pry the knobs off, they're on exceptionally tight, but they are indeed intended to slide off. very scary process to discover. I thought there was some internal set screw or something.

its all OTAs, in case anyone was curious. 13700s.

The local oscillator in my Blue Ringer is continuous - but you don't hear it when there is no signal input, because it is a VERY GOOD ring modulator! :icon_wink: And an enormous amount of effort went into making sure there was no stray carrier bleedthrough.
