I wish I had pictures, but I'm not fully into the digital age yet.

1- Large tuna can with a plastic peanut butter lid for the bottom.
2- 4 oz. Colman's Mustard tin for a small practice amp like a Ruby.
3- Extruded aluminum bleacher seats. (http://www.aluminumseating.com/planks.html) find out when your local school or ball park will be replacing old ones and see if you can take some off their hands.  :icon_wink:

+1 for snipping up old cd/vhs/stereo component sheet metal. I've done this for 3 pedals.
+1 for dead hard drives. I've found some of them need some clearing out, but there's enough room in there for a nice low profile pedal.

A Telephone Engineer who recently came out to my house left behind a dud 6v battery from some of his test gear.  It's a big 'size of your fist' thing.

It's not in my Shed-of-Destiny waiting to become yet another practice / headphone amp.

I haven't tried this yet but I'm going to try cutting up an old metal lunch box with the vintage looking graphics and folding up a box. I also have a tin 'Cat in The Hat' jack in the box. The only thing is I think the top might have to be reinforced for the stomp switch but that would be pretty easy to do.

  "Ol-'luminum Channel".
Every so often a nice piece of aluminum stock comes along that's about perfect.
6'' deep, 1.5'' or so tall, then...wide because it's extruded.
And the 1.5'' or so dimension is the 'side extrude'...what keeps the piece from twisting [and makes it look like a wide/short 'u shape' from end view], these rails down each side to make it 'tall' and this really stiffens the extended length [I got some that had been cut to 18'' long, which made a ''wide'' stompbox panel.
I chop-sawed a quick surround-frame from some oak moulding strips..looked good, and took care of the edges !
They're hard to find though, I found at the scrap place some boxes of pieces saved for salvagers like me some aluminum/copper/other 'premium' metals, various shapes, extruded and sheets being common [mixed with the strips and wire too..bring pliers/heavy gloves for optimal pickin' techniques].
A better hole saw cut a 1'' hole for a wah string, a 3/8'' hardwood dowel through pedal into old chrome toilet lid hinges on each side for the wah treadle assembly.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Wow, what is that??  I mean, aside from what could be the coolest looking enclosure ever...

It has a very interesting mad scientist vibe.

Hi

Yesterday I ran into some trouble with my "creative enclosure". I have been touring with them for some time now usually checking them in. But this time I decided  to take them as carry on luggage since we had some overweight. At the first security check they asked me to open up my bag to see what was inside. Then they put my stuff through the x ray again and everything was fine after that. However at my connecting flight in Copenhagen things didn't go so smoothly. They were really suspicious and held me for one hour and called the cops! I could here them speaking my name over the radio... looking at my passport and checking things. I tried to explain to them that there was nothing out of the ordinary inside the boxes. I use a lot of old cans and stuff like that and it really looks rough and home made. In the end they insisted that I checked in this bag since even though they couldn't really say that there was anything you can't take on board a plain, this just looked like it could be a BOMB! I had no choice since I had been basically detained for an hour with the rest of my band mates (all of which had gotten their "non creative enclosure" style effects through security check without any comments. I was certain that they would all get smashed in the cargo bay since they where in a soft bag, but happily my "creative enclosures" survived the flight! So be careful not to scare the authorities with your work!

Yup, I had my Mum bring home a Hammond OT from the States a few years ago and the metal box with wires coming from the bottom had them mystified and they almost wouldn't let it pass. I think people in customs have this idea that "baddies" make bombs from kitchen refuse and disgarded junk which may come from old movies and the fact that "baddies" are usually very high tech now and do things like put the naughty things in the main cargo and then use transmitters to action them is a bit beyond their abilities.

These officials like to believe they can catch "baddies" but I don't think they like to think that the real "baddies" are always two steps ahead off them. The miscreants to them are dumpster divers who can't get a real job!

Is the foot pedal from a dentists chair. Treadle for drill and button on top to raise the chair?

Hey Toptop, that is a great wee box... kinda teletubbeeish!

You know, I have been worried about that happening. I have some home made mics with a power supply that is an aluminum tin painted green with a big red button on the top... Somehow though, they never seem to care. The last time I flew, they were more concerned about my spindle of CDrs for some reason  ???

Also, to those who asked, those enclosures are from some kind of toy that I found a bunch of at a junk store. I have six of the enclosures total, three not made into anything yet. I added the LED eyes, which were previously where some buttons for the toy were.

Here's my Fuzz Factory housed in a Stella Artois Promotional DVD case. I've called it the Fuzzy Head Factory, for those of you lucky enough to have Stella on tap in your country, you'll know why!

Not finished the guts yet as I'm waiting on a couple of parts I need. This is my first attempt at creating my own layout so it may require some de-bugging as its only the second pedal I've built!

Not a creative enclosure, but perhaps a creative use of a boring enclosure...

Built this one for a fellow who likes to burn and then inhale various dried plant matter.
