Anyone have any creative ideas for enclosures?  All I can find locally are plastic boxes at Radio Shack.

Raco boxes are popular. You should also make trips to the local Goodwill or Salvation Army and see what you can find.
If it ain't broke...   ...it will be soon.

I looked at some RACO boxes at Home Depot, but they all have knockouts for holes.

I actually ended up buying some aluminum boxes at Michael's, the craft store, that are about 4" x 5" x 1.5" for a buck each.  They look like Altoid boxes on steroids.  They seem pretty sturdy, but time will tell.

You can fill the knockouts with Bondo, and you have to be careful when drilling so you don't knock them loose. I'd like to see the box you got at Michael's. Sounds interesting. Some have even used small stainless bowls.

I used an old mouse from my pc for a parallel box for my 2 amp cabs  :icon_twisted:
I've used those medicine bottles (big bottles) of tylenol or motrin before  ;D unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it.  I look around all my house for a bunch of junk.  I plan on using those Blank DVD spindles soon for a fuzz face clone or something, since it IS round like the old dunlops  :icon_lol:

i was at target and saw these little mini metal lunch boxes that had candy in them (i got warheads) and its not nearly as solid as a hammond, but i think it might be ok to stompon.  if anything im going to use it as a template for wiring.

What kind of duty do they have to endure?  Will they need to be stepped on?  Will they have to take gigging, or just a position of honour in your basement studio?

I went shopping at Lowe's Home Improvement Center.  I bought an exterior electrical box w/cover:

• You'll notice the battery holder is screwed into the hole used for the ground wire
• You'll have to trim some of the inside as seen drawn with the green marker

• The populated enclosure

• All sealed up!

This is a weatherproof, single gang outlet box.  They also have dual gang outlet boxes which are twice as wide.

that would be great for when people (or you) kick over a beer on stage! :P

Either I passed 'em up 10x, or our lowes doesn't have that style...looks pretty good.
I used 20 Racos or so. put JB weld 5 minute epoxy on the punchouts with a credit card [inside only] and let it cure for 1 day, drilling was N/P.
Bondo'll 'just' do it, but I had a couple punchouts punchout, so I moved up the epoxy hardness scale to the JB weld.

Some of my wierd enclosures are the Hysteresis combined with a Vox 847 for a filter in a Coke tin.  A Red Llama in a tin from Micheals crafts store.  A Colorsound Wah buit into my wifes sewing machine pedal and a Random Number Generator in an Altoids tin.  I couldn't believe the battery fit in the last one.

90% of the Lowe's are set up the same.  Those boxes can be found at the end furthest from the cash registers, across from the wire spools, and same side as conduit clamps.  You can also check Lowes.com for availability at your local store.  If you check there, you can get teh SKU # and use that at the store.  The boxes are quick and easy to use, and extremely durable.  Another thing I like about them is the clips you can buy for them.  That way, you can mount them to your board with 2 screws.

I was thinking of using the bottom of a bialetti moka pot. You could put a non-conductive fuild in the top (oil, perhaps?), tint it brown and pour yourself a "coffee" at the end of your gig... the stomp swith would need to be angled though... :(

Lotsa cool stuff like small hubcaps, pans, motorcycle case covers.
Motorcycle case covers, now that I'm typing might be easy to tap threads in the 3 holes to mount a bottom on, often a problem with pan type enclosures....
