Now that's CREATIVE dude!  LOL

A cardboard box?  I guess if you don't have to step on it it's fine, but what happens when a 275# gorilla (like yours truly) does a 5" vertical leap while ripping on the lead from Wild Thing and crushes it on re-entry?  Gives a whole new meaning to Dragonfly's SPLAT control, eh?

HEHEHEHE that was a prototype of a box... that was my first, so everything was new to me.

Know it's a 2mm Steel box! U can roll over it with a Hummer! (I think)

But... if it had little steel bars inside it, just for support... Maybe next time!  ::)

I found a box of these SSP-N directional couplers in my university's surplus sale. I'm thinking of either selling these boxes individually or using them as the signature enclosure for my newly minted pedal company, Hubris Guitar Pedals. The boxes have a footprint of about 140mm x 140mm and have a usable area of about 110mm x 110mm, if i remember correctly. so they're on par with 1590BB boxes (also in terms of depth), except with a much larger footprint. very cthulu looking like boxes. i wish i could put the 8 coax inputs to use, but i can't think of anything useful to do with them.  more info and a potential post in the for sale area shortly.

here's a link to a website describing what they are:

Hey yesterday I got an Idea....A few weeks ago I opened up a couple of dvd players(great source for caps btw) and the sheet metal they have got me thinkin....Why not make my own enclosure!!! I cut a net shape of a cuboid and bended it then riveted it together. unfortunately my riveter broke and I couldnt continue but its looking like it can make a good enclosure. Im planning that after I rivet the 4 sides together I give it some chemical metal(I think bondo is the same) to the seams and then sand it down so that it takes the look of a cast Metal box.Its very sturdy and it looks like it will last long.BUT if you dont have power shears or a jigsaw or something electrical to cut the sheet with I dont recommand it since I spent about an hour and a half cutting it with hand sheers and my hand still hurts a little :) anyways try this out and with a little bit of wotk youll end up with a very nice enclosure and youll be recycling stuff (Im sure if you go to a local scrapyard or landfill youll find tons of dvd players for free). If it turns out nice Ill post pics.. ;D

I found some clear acrylic boxes used for collectible baseballs that suited pedal building well enough.

When the two halves are assembled the joints are virtually indetectable. You'll probably want to use better spacing between
controls and legit stomparino switches like Carling or whatevahs. I just lashed this Fuzz Face together with 2 SFT363
xistors I had laying around. I dubbed it the "Spinach Chin" in honor of Moe's charming appelations for Larry & Curly.

Have teh funs,

That company "T-Pedals" uses xformer bells as enclosures....

I've seen those before. I really like the looks of that enclosure but for the life of me I can't find a supplier for Bell End Covers.

How did you get the board in and make the connections with that modem case? I have an enclosure like that but its too small to access through the sides to attach switches and pots.

You need a glade plug-in, in on a footswitch.  Kick on the big muff, then hit the air freshener pedal.

Well, it was a hard work to adjust and mod the enclosure so I can fit everything in nicely. I think you'll "get the picture" with these 2 photos  ;) :

OHHH! On mine, the bottom doesn't come off. Makes if a little bit easier if it does:D

this is the box for a computer's power supply. It has all sorts of vents and holes in it so to seal all that stuff up, I just rough cut some pieces of really thin plexi-glass and hot-glued/wood screwed peices into place.

The box has held up surprisingly well ... I just redesigned the circuit though and put it into a traditional box so now this one gets to hang with the Robot.

I was thinking of using the bottom of a bialetti moka pot. You could put a non-conductive fuild in the top (oil, perhaps?), tint it brown and pour yourself a "coffee" at the end of your gig... the stomp swith would need to be angled though... :(

Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good Moka pot though?! I guess if you found one of the cheap Chinese knock offs for like $5 but a real Bialetti?

Looks to me like the bottom didn't come off originally but it was modded to do so.

Hey Chaps, some very nice stuff coming out of the woodwork :icon_biggrin:
I know its a bad photo but this is a minimum theremin. I've got lots of these vegetable boilers in aluminium and have only ever found one in plastic... or maybe they were around years ago but I was only into aluminium... I can be such a snob sometimes.

Now I like plastic because it's impervious to being a ground plane...RF.
