looks like an optical compressor

board with red spraypaint :) - looks like two of the same pedal

lots more red!

What is that "pool cleaning"device? I always called it the custom pete cornish dirt devil... DD-1

That stuff is seriously over-engineered, mil-spec--it's..., it's almost like a Hiwatt! That board must've saved a few years worth of anxiety for old Pete's roadies.

He only goops his own stuff; when it is not his design he does not goop it

That optical compressor is a Demeter Compulator

the last picture is hilarious. i'm gonna build custom stuff like that. i wonder how much it costs, especially since it's made way to big for what it is

p.s.: demeter compulator
someone have a schematic so we can build it....

Oops my bad, one less chip than a Tremulator.

Those huge multipin connectors are really expensive.

Wow, is he using those huge KH "Icecube" relays for his bypass swiching? Talk about overkill.
Overall, I the way he does this. I like the idea of re-skinning pedals to be built into the board - not just stuck on top with some velcro. I think that's the best way to go for serious stage rigs.

No it's not; I've seen those exact same connectors from power distribution systems all over Europe because the wiring, voltage, current, and connection standards are different that in the States.  Trust me, a stage production like The Who is pulling just a bit more juice than a few power strips from Radio Shack can cover.

F.Y.I. Cornish briefly worked as a relay designer before he started working at Sound City in London and before his private practice, hence his fondness for relays in his send and return circuits.

I've also noticed that he only encapsulates any circuit boards that do any kind of amplification or handle signals actively, save his power supplies in order to increase the mass of the board and hence cut down on viibration induced noise from getting into the signal not just to prevent reverse engineering.  A bit belt and suspenders but effective.
Passive sucks.

Okay, but I hope he's careful not to completely seal up all those electrolytic caps. If they are completely sealed-off, they won't be able to adequately vent their gases and this can have a drastic effect on the lifespan of the cap. If you look at the goop on a Klon, you can see that they are very careful not completely cover the electrolytic caps.
I'm sure this is one the main reasons not to goop the power supply boards; that, and probably the heat generated on them as well.
