Starting an AD3208 project

Hi everyone.

I've built the rebote 2.5 and while it works okay and sounds nice, it's just too sterile for my taste and hasn't got much echo on repeats, so I decided to build some other delay pedal.

A friend of my has a Deluxe Memory Man that I really like, it's nice and spacey, and really sounds excellent for my type of playing.

Anyways I found AD3208 project interesting since people mention it sounds alot like Boss DM-3 (or 2?) delay. I never played those pedals but if my memory serves me correctly, they are know to be great sounding delay pedals that are similiar in character to the DMM.

I don't really care for that vibrato/chorus things going on with DMM, but it's the lush echo of the delays that sounds nice.

The questions are:

Is AD3208 that spacey/echo on repeats?
Can it self oscillate?
Is the dry/wet mod useful?
And the BL3208 chip, I found BL3208A and BL3208B on banzai shop site, I suppose it's the B version that I'm after, right? DIP16 case with only 8 pins as it seems to me from the layout on GGG. The A version is a regular DIP8.

I'm not into long delay times, and I will be ordering sockets so I can try 3205 IC's later.

Thanks!

I assume you've not seen the Echo Base thread....?

Actually both 3208 and 3205 are DIP14.
I recently built mine with Cool Audio's V3205D and V3102D respectively. Yes it can self oscillate.
I've built Rebote 2 and PT80 before that and they're all useful for my needs.

I think Boss analog delays sound more like Ibanez's delays which to me sound very different to Electro-Harmonix's delays.  The AD3208 I believe is more similar in design to the Ibanez/Boss delays than the Memory Man.

I built one from a GGG RTS board and BBDs from smallbear

GGG lists mods to increase the number of repeats and delay level - do those and it will self oscillate no problem.

I had a DM-2 and the AD-3208 sounded the same (esp after the mods), so I sold the DM-2.
