Changing the effective range of a potentiometer in an expression pedal

So I bought an expression pedal shell from Small Bear to use with my Screaming Meanie (Moosapotamus) and other things in the future.  The problem is that it needs a 10k pot but the smallest pot made especially for the expression pedal is 100K.  You can jam normal pots into but they don't fit too well and it doesn't seem very secure.  Is there any way to change the effective range of a potentiometer while still using it's full range of motion?

You really can't cheat it very well with the screaming meanie.  You can put a 10k in parallel with the pot, but then the expression pedal won't do much, and the travel will be really weird.  You can open up the pot and physically modify the resistive strip to make it less resistive, but that's a lot of work, and it's hard to do DIY (though not impossible)

Your options are this:
1) Find a manufacturer that makes 10k pots that will work in an exp pedal (sorry I don't have any ideas)
2) Take the 100k pot apart and modify the resistive strip to make it 10k instead of 100k (I don't recommend doing this unless you're really good at that kind of thing).
3) Modify a regular 10k pot with a trusty rotary tool until you can make it work in the Exp shell.  I would recommend this one.

Here I explain how to use a 2 watt potentiometer as a replacement for a pedal pot (wah, volume or expression). So you can use any value you want. I did it for a wah and an expression pedal sometime ago and it worked perfect. If you have any questions just let me know.
