Transistor Muff Fuzz Gated? Sounds like a ducking effect....

So I built the transistor Muff Fuzz and it sounds OK except that when I hit a chord it sounds like it's being "ducked" a little, or from what I have read you guys might call it being "gated". I read on this thread (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=52031.0) that for the IC version you can add a 1ohm resistor parallel to the diodes. Is there a fix for the transistor version? Ill post some sound clips later if that will help.
