Tremolo Expression Pedal question

Hello,

    I'm attempting to build the Tremulous Bear offered by Small Bear Electronics.  This is my very first try at building a stomp box.  I'm wondering if I can do a mod so that I can connect it to an expression pedal to control the tremolo rate.  Is this possible??  Would I be able to use a standard ernie ball volume pedal??  If so, would anyone be kind enough to explain how to do it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check out the link... you can use a broken wah/volume pedal, or smallbear sells empty ones for around $40
