Man, cries for help just don't get more desparate than that!! :icon_eek:  He's at a complete loss for words.

So, um, what can we do for you?

Weird. Double post.... one with text, the other without.

Here's my dillema:

I'm trying to repair my old circa '84 Arion SCH-1 Chorus, and replacing the pots and jacks are the order of the day. I think I tried to rehouse it back in the 80's and lifted up a bunch of PC board traces, so now I'm trying to neatly repair the traces with wire-wrap wire and wire in new pots.

Last night, I got it to chorus intermittently and then it stopped sweeping. I replaced the rate and depth pots and checked the wiring/bad PC traces etc, but now it's still not sweeping. You can hear that the delay is in effect, especially if you turn the depth control, which has a minor effect on the delay time, but no rate and no sweep.

My guess is that I should replace the LFO Op-amp which is an LA6358. It seems that any old 4558 style op-amp should work. Anyone have any more info than that?

I'll let you know what happens. I haven't heard this thing since the late 80's and I'm curious as to how it compares to my dozen or so other choruses that I never use anymore. :)

I guess that did the trick. A 1458 didn't sweep, but an LF353 did. Now I'm trying to hear what all the fuss is about.

It's a very nice and lush sounding chorus, not dissimilar to a CE-2, but it doesn't get way out of tune and warped sounding like a Small Clone. Hmmm....

Do you find it sucks the tone in bypass mode? Mine does. Is it a buffered bypass using crappy components?

I haven't checked it out through anything but my workbench amp, which sucks tone in any mode :)

I would probably rehouse it with a standard 3PDT footswitch when I get to that point. Does anyone have the scoop on how to wire it always on? It's a shame that the circuit board is just too big to fit into any of my smaller die-cast boxes.

What did you replace the pots with? I can't find any that are the same type.

I find that the effect is too strong. I'd like a LEVEL knob to dial out some of the chorus effect. When I click mine on, it's instant Boss CH-1 80's sounding. Although I've tweaked my a little to rid myself of warble.
