Hi guys.I got this problem.

My friend amp input jack is dead. After checking,i found out that the input jack grounding connection on the pcb is cracked.I try to joint the connection with  wire.It worked but there is grounding noise after the input jack is inserted. So what  is the best solution for this problem? ???
Is there  voltage at the grounding after the amp is on? :icon_eek: The amp is peavey trans tube 158.
Thanks for your time.

I'd try replacing the jack entirely and resoldering the whole area where it attaches. The whole mess is likely broken.

If there is a 'grounding" noise, then there must be at least one more (intermittent) break in a track or connection somewhere.
If every crack and bad connection were bypassed by a link, there could be no noise.

Also a possibility though: physical damage INSIDE the jack.

Ok.So by soldering the crack pcb part will solve the problem?I'm sure the jack input is working fine.Just need some help bout the pcb side.I try to solder but seem it  unable to stick to the pcb.  :-\ Are there copper tape or somewhat that can joint the cracked part?

Use a fibreglass pencil or steel wool to clen the solder mask off, then solder over the crack.
Check the entire pcb with a magnifying glass - if one point has cracked there may be others.
A new jack costs pennies, replacing it rules out internal damage or dirty/damaged contacts.

It could still have a bad jack as posted by others.  Think about it.  The jack was most likely hit hard enought to break the PCB, the side or inline impact might have caused some damge to the jack.

The best way (in my experience) to fix a crack in a PCB, usually is to bypass the cracked trace by running a wire between the components that it connects.
Secondly, if a PCB is cracked, it is probably going to flex back and foward along the crack & break again. So you will have to provide some kind of support or an epoxied splint to prevent this.

Thanks to all who post or view.I think i will just solder wire for the cracked pcb if that seem the best solution and also changed the jack.I will post the result after completion. ;D
