Basic Compents Of A Fuzz Pedal?

yeah, what are they?
im trying to design my own fuzz but im not sure if what ive decided will make it a distortion or a fuzz
here is my final schem that i did

Did you build it? Listen to it, if it sounds fuzzy, it's a fuzz. Otherwise it's a distortion.

i am today, but this is more aimed at the pro fuzz/dist builders who can almost pretty much spot anything that will turn it into a distortion rather than a fuzz, like a wrong value resistor, diode placement, etc

also, what i mean by basic compents, is like, say a fuzz face, what makes it fuzz and not distortion? or like Andy's Saturn Five, what makes it fuzz rather than dist?

As long as you can get a decent amount of boot just play around with different diode types. I've messed around with different circuits and experimented with different diodes and can often sound distorted with one type and fuzzy with others and buzzy with others. Many people have different opinions as to what is distortion and what is fuzz so use your own ear. Also experiment with different diode placements. And have fun!

My guess is that it will probably sound like a fuzz. There's too much low end coming in for it to be a distortion.
That's what this panda thinks anyway.
You might want to check the biasing, it might be reaallyy crackly skritchy if it's biased all wrong, but maybe you want that. Or maybe you'll be a sad panda.

the 10k c resistor i got from the Bazz Fuss

It's called a fuzz face because that's what they decided to call it. There is no set definition of a 'fuzz' as opposed to 'distortion'. Although some people would probably tell you that distortion lies between 'fuzz' and 'overdrive' but no one will agree on where the lines are.

Normally, a fuzz is a much harsher distortion so it will have less filtering and a hard clip. What you have there is basically 2 stages of a Buff Muff Pie. Is a BMP a fuzz or distortion? Depends on who you talk to.

To me, fuzz is a bunch of panda mush panda noise panda shrill.
I put fuzz into two panda categories: Panda Fuzz Face and Panda Fuzzrite. Panda Fuzz Face has a mushy bloated low end that compresses panda alot. Panda Fuzzrite is static-y and skritchy panda harshy with almost no low-end.

  Not as distorted probably as a BMP, probably will distort and have ample HF's, a rolloff cap across the diodes or wherever can tame that.

IMO if you can palm mute it its a distortion,if it sounds like sh!t muted its a fuzz!

but...................some fuzzes ,and i mean very few, do palm mute ok, not distortion ok but usable nonetheless.

the fuzz factory mutes pretty well for a fuzz,any bmp or ff sound real bad muted.

the lines blurry but its there.

I'm not sure what makes a fuzz, but I have been enjoying the "panda" kick soulsonic is on!

I think the Green Russian Panda Muff mutes the panda well, but I agree with Pumpkin, the other Panda Muffs are     with panda muting.

it does??? let me just get my BMP schem...
it sorta does, but i based my schem on ideas from Andy's Saturn Fuzz, the Bazz Fuss, Joe D's Easy Drive, and the Electra Distortion and some of my own ideas
