This is the original schematic:

This is my attempt at a bypass:

Are the bypass and LED wired correctly?

That will work but you will not be able to pass any signal when you bypass it.

You should bypass the circuit itself and not the power.

Search for bypass wiring diagrams here.  There are a bunch of threads and diagrams.

Ermm, you have a LED when the signal is off? That's an interesting take on things - especially as I don't think it's going to work because you're trying to make a ground out of the hot from your guitar.

Ah HA!  I think I have it figured out now ... I can't believe I was so foolish before.  This will work, right?

1. Green wires: when bypassed, the signal still is shut off. Try to attach the tip of the output to the middle of the switch and attach the input and the output of the circuit to pins 1 and 3.

2. I don't see how the optional power led will work...sicnbe you attach both ends to the same wire...

3. I don't see why you should switch power off. Ecology ideas? Don't worry. The circuit draws very little current without LED's (0.5mA) You can play an hour a day for a year with this. If you have a Tube amp: the filaments alone of the amp (aside the music power!) draw up to 3000 times more current...
